Crooked Can Brewery: AV Design for Modern Hospitality Businesses
Aug 24, 2026
The best breweries today offer much more than great beer.
They serve as gathering places for families, friends, local businesses, and the surrounding community. Guests expect live entertainment, great food, special events, and an atmosphere that encourages them to stay longer and come back often. That expectation has changed how hospitality venues approach technology. Audio systems, digital signage, projection systems, and security infrastructure are no longer secondary considerations. They are essential components that help shape the guest experience.
The new Crooked Can Brewing Company location in Minneola, Florida is a perfect example. Located within the rapidly growing Hills City Center development, the brewery was designed to become a destination for Lake County residents and visitors alike. The facility combines a large brewery, food hall, event spaces, indoor and outdoor seating areas, and live entertainment zones under one roof.
When a venue is designed on this scale, technology has to support the experience without becoming complicated for staff or distracting for guests.
Creating Technology for a Community Destination
To support their goals, the venue needed a complete audiovisual ecosystem that could deliver consistent audio, engaging video content, reliable security monitoring, and simple day-to-day operation. Every space needed to feel connected. Teer Audio Visual designed and integrated a complete hospitality AV system that supports entertainment, communication, and operational awareness throughout the facility.
The first priority was delivering high-quality audio throughout the facility. Music needed to sound balanced and enjoyable regardless of where guests were located. The second was creating a flexible video system capable of supporting digital menus, promotional content, community announcements, and major event viewing. The third was implementing a security platform that would help staff monitor key areas throughout the property while remaining easy to manage.
Just as important was ensuring the infrastructure could support future growth. As Crooked Can continues to evolve, additional displays, speakers, cameras, and technology can be added without requiring a complete redesign.
Distributed Audio Designed for Hospitality.
Crooked Can's architecture includes high ceilings, polished concrete floors, large glass surfaces, open gathering areas, and expansive outdoor spaces. These features create a striking visual environment, but they can also create acoustic challenges if the sound system is not properly engineered. To ensure consistent coverage throughout the property, Teer Audio Visual deployed a combination of Q-SYS processing and amplification along with Electro-Voice, AtlasIED, and Community loudspeakers.
Pendant speakers were strategically installed throughout the second floor to provide clear music across large open areas. Surface-mount loudspeakers were used throughout the first floor of the building. Community loudspeakers were selected for outdoor spaces because they deliver excellent sound quality while standing up to Florida's climate.
Guests experience clear and balanced audio throughout the venue. There are no dramatic volume changes from one area to another. Whether guests are dining, socializing, enjoying live entertainment, or attending a private event, the audio experience remains consistent.
Projection System & Digital Signage
One of the most impressive features of the project is the venue's large-format projection system. At the heart of the system is a high-brightness Eiki laser projector paired with a massive Da-Lite motorized projection screen. The scale of the display immediately captures attention and creates a focal point within the facility. It allows Crooked Can to host watch parties, championship games, community gatherings, special events, and seasonal celebrations on a scale that traditional televisions simply cannot match. Guests can comfortably view content from throughout the venue while enjoying food, drinks, and entertainment.
We also couldn't ignore other ways that video content is a part of modern hospitality operations. Therefore commercial-grade LG displays were installed throughout the facility to support menu boards, promotional messaging, event information, and branded content.
Security Designed for Visibility
Large hospitality venues require strong situational awareness. To support daily operations, Teer Audio Visual deployed a Hikvision surveillance platform supported by enterprise-grade Netgear network infrastructure. Strategically placed cameras provide visibility throughout key guest areas, entrances, gathering spaces, and operational zones. The system helps management maintain awareness during busy periods while supporting overall safety and operational efficiency.
What Hospitality Operators Can Learn From This Project
Breweries, food halls, entertainment venues, and mixed-use gathering spaces are evolving into community destinations. Guests expect great food and drinks, but they also expect experiences. Technology plays a major role in delivering those experiences.
One of the biggest lessons from this project is the importance of planning AV infrastructure early. Audio systems, video distribution, networking, security, and control systems should all work together as a unified platform. When each technology is treated as part of a larger ecosystem, the result is a better experience for guests and a simpler experience for staff. Crooked Can demonstrates what is possible when modern AV technology is integrated into a venue from the beginning.
